Jeremy Hill's aviation career began in the Marines. For a little over three of his five years with the Marines, he worked on the V-8B Harrier II. Coming out of the service, Hill would go onto college before opening his own avionics shop.

In July 2017, Hill started Southeast Avionics, later becoming an official Avionics Repair Station for Southeast GA in January 2018. At only 25 years of age, he was one of the youngest to own and operate a Part 145 Repair Station.

But his interest in electronics goes back further than that.

“When I was in high school, basically what got me started into electronics, is I worked for the technology specialist group in the K-12 at my local high school. When I was a sophomore is when I started there. I used to do coaxial cables, ethernet cables, anything really to do with servers and computers. I was taught by a group of, believe it or not, they were also Marines and actually were the ones who got me to join the Marine Corps,” he said.

Hill said he has always had a fascination with taking things apart and learning what makes them tick. And it’s watching a job come to life after hours of work that brings him the most enjoyment out of his job.

“It just gives you satisfaction to complete a job and turn around and flip it on and watch it work like it’s supposed to and go out in the field and test it and make sure it’s doing what it’s supposed to and to approve stuff. And that’s really what I enjoy about the job,” he said.

Hill works with a team of five others – two of whom he has trained himself on avionics work. He said that he’s excited to see what the future has in store for avionics and how they might advance in the coming years.

“I'd love to see the next generation of equipment come out for avionics. Aviation's getting safer and safer honestly. They just keep the direction they're going now and keep improving their systems and autopilots and the system essentials for pilots. And as far as aviation goes, I'd love to see aviation take a step and get bigger,” he said.
