Benjamin Cohen caught the aviation bug as a kid, thinking originally that he would one day be a pilot. A trip to the local A&P school while in high school changed his mind.
“Once I toured their A&P school, I kind of knew that that's actually the direction that I wanted to go. So yeah, I'd say a childhood dream turned into reality,” Cohen said.
Today, Cohen works for Coca-Cola Consolidated as an AMT, in what he describes as a very dynamic role, “doing a little bit of everything.”
“I am doing everything from scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting squawks to ensuring our passengers are well-cared for,” Cohen continued.
Having recently been hired with Coca-Cola Consolidated, Cohen said he’s looking forward to getting into more detailed maintenance requirements, such as budgeting and forecasting.
"It’s a very high stakes industry, business aviation is. Stakeholders rightfully have high expectations,” Cohen said.
One of his favorite aspects to his work is the people within the aviation community.
“It's a pretty tightknit group. It feels a lot smaller than it is, especially when you start making connections. So, I really enjoy the relational aspects of what I do,” he said. “I've been very fortunate to have a couple of individuals who have poured a lot of time and effort into my own development.”
Cohen extends his thanks to Heath McDaniel with Michelin North America's flight department and Jim Elston, his current boss.
